YouTube Discovery Week

HI,

My husband works with a former librarian and she told me about a new sitcom about librarians, which is/will air in Australia. She told me that the promo was on YouTube so I did a search and here it is. It looks like it might be funny. I love comedy and miss the comedy shows that I used to watch in Canada. My nephew is getting married in London, Canada in December and I'd like to see a video of it. I must ask my sister to take a video and upload it on YouTube so I don't miss anything.

It worked but Zohowriter kept freezing up - I finally got it to publish on my blog after 7 tries!
I chose Farecast as my Web 2.0 application to discover because my husband and I are hoping to fly to Japan at some point and I want to see how to find the best deals on tickets. This is like other travel sites, you plug in the flight dates, times etc and the software comes up with the cheapest flights. It also shows comparisons for prices against Expedia, CheapAir, CheapTickets, Hotwire, BookingBuddy and others. It had the cheapest fares and it supported searches for flights out of Auckland (which some of the other travel software did not). Highly recommended!

Oops! Forgot to add my comments about Library 2.0. I know it's inevitable but I have a particular interest in older people and I fear that they are going to be left behind unless libraries design facilities and services, which are inclusive. Not everyone knows, likes, wants to use technology.

Discover Wiki Week

Just had a look at the library Wikis you recommended and especially liked the Consumer Info one - I found out about a new magazine title, Where to Retire, which I'm interested in . Will try to see if it is indexed anywhere. Also liked the Nonfiction book reviews in the Book Lovers Wiki, I often make recommendations for purchase based on sites like these. Trouble is I don't have enough time to read the books I know about, without adding more! Loved the best practices wiki too. Although in New Zealand I am working in a public library, I am a Medical Librarian and the practice of medicine has been evidence-based for over a decade now. Glad to see libraries going the same route - will visit this again. Wikis have applicability for libraries of every kind, especially the sub-specialties, like medical, law, corporate librarianship, etc. I have to say that I am still not in the habit of using ACL's reference wiki but it does make sense for questions that are difficult to answer or for questions that come up repeatedly.

I've been away and am trying to get caught up. I've read through and opened a de.licio.us account and tagged one bookmark. I can see that it would have lots of applications - getting all your bookmarks in one place would be great. Had a look at Technorati too - the Learning 2.0 searches in Blog posts and tags but couldn't see how to do the search in the blog directory. Yes the results are different... I had a look at the most popular blogs and really liked the Engadget. Must tell my husband - he'll love it!
